Double Major PHD Programs In The School of Gradaute Studies

Policy

The Graduate School is the only gaduate school that has double majors. There are two double major programs involving PHD's. In 2013 the Board of Governors approved a double major program for the PHD program in computational biology and molecular biophysics along with other PHD programs in related fields in the Graduate School. There is only one PHD awarded, but with two degree curricula.

In 2009 the Board of Governors approved a double major program involving the PHD in management in the Newark Graduate School and any other PHD program in the School of Graduate Studies. The student will be awarded one PHD at the home school. The transcript will contain a narrative statement indicating that the requirements of the other PHD program have also been satisfied, as in the following example:

"PHD DEGREE EARNED JOINTLY IN PSYCHOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT THROUGH
THE GRADUATE SCHOOL-NEW BRUNSWICK AND THE GRADUATE SCHOOL-NEWARK
  ON OCTOBER 1, 2013."
