Notice of Office Closings and Class Cancellations
Campus Information Services (CIS) will play a primary role in
disseminating emergency information to the University Community,
including announcing office closings and class cancellations. CIS'
dissemination tools include:
- University Operating Status Page: This web site will include
information on office closings, class cancellations, bus schedules,
parking lot availability, and dining hall and recreation/student center
hours. Rutgers' main website, rutgers.edu,
will maintain links to the University Operating Status Page. This page
will maintain a link to the Newark and Camden campuses home pages.
- 732-932-info:
RU.info includes a 24-hour voice mail announcement system. Please note
that this replaces University Relations' emergency telephone line
(732-932-7799).
- RU.info Channel: Channel 3 on the New Brunswick/Piscataway
campus, or available online at rutv.rutgers.edu/infochannel.html.
- Emergency
Communication Listserv: This listserv is designed to be a supplement to
existing phone chains and is distributed to vice presidents, deans,
directors, faculty, and administrative assistants on the New
Brunswick/Piscataway campus.
In addition, the following radio and television stations will
announce class cancellations, delayed openings, and early closings at
New Brunswick/Piscataway and Newark on their School Closings lists.
Please note that these announcements are for classes only and DO NOT
refer to office closings, and that they will not include specific
times. A "delayed opening" is defined as the university opening at 9:50
a.m. Cancellation of daytime classes is usually broadcast prior to 6:30
a.m. An early closing is defined as no classes after 4:10 p.m.
Cancellation of evening classes is broadcast in the late afternoon.
